The capital of [Thailand](/countries/thailand.md), covered in a single day with
[Chinni](/people/chinni.md), who chooses most of it.

## What to do here

- **Muay Thai.** Her recommendation, and the best part of the day: a proper
  session at a gym, where she turns out to be good and Harry gets beaten by the
  trainer he asked to spar with.
- **Huskies**, at a café — the first stop, and mostly an excuse to talk.
- **Dinner by the river.** A Thai restaurant in a riverside hotel, good enough
  that he goes back on consecutive nights.
- **The nightlife districts**, if what you want is a night out.
- **Skip the ping pong shows**, which she dismisses flatly.

## The red light district

He goes at the end of the night and treats it as a fact about the city rather
than an attraction: prostitution, shows, and everything advertised openly.
**Chinni's explanation is demand** — a great many men come to Bangkok for it,
which is why it is the size it is.

rate his date before and after being told she is transgender.

## Harry's tips

- **Ask a local what to skip**, not just what to do. The most useful thing she
  says all day is which famous attraction isn't worth it.
- **Book the Muay Thai as a session, not a show.** He does the training rather
  than watching a fight, and it's the part he rates.
