# My Favourite City In Lebanon! 🇱🇧

Harry tours [Batroun](/places/batroun.md), the seaside town he calls his
favourite city in [Lebanon](/countries/lebanon.md). He shows his rented
three-bedroom apartment (about $50 a night (from video – unverified), a
ten-minute walk from town), has a huge Armenian-Lebanese fusion lunch with a
friend — the cherry kebab is the standout — and explains Lebanon's confusing
dual pricing: the bill reads 2,600,000 lira, roughly $1,700 at the official
rate but about $80 at the black-market rate everyone actually uses. They
finish with the town's famous lemonade at Hilmi's, founded 1888, before Harry
explains why Batroun's cobbled streets, beach, nightlife, and sunsets make it
his pick.

*Obs: the town's name never appears cleanly in the subtitles (rendered as
"patron"/"bertrand"), but the details — Hilmi's lemonade house, founded
1888 — identify it as Batroun.*

## Key moments

- [00:00] Tour of Harry's apartment base for the week: new, three bedrooms,
air-con, about $50 a night (from video – unverified), ten minutes' walk to
  town.
- [03:21] Armenian-Lebanese fusion lunch — they let the restaurant choose:
a fruity fattoush-style salad with goat's cheese and pomegranate, spicy
potatoes, meat-filled dough pockets in yoghurt and tomato sauces, hummus
topped with crispy beef, and meat wrapped in eggplant with cherry sauce.
- [08:25] The dish you "absolutely have to try": the cherry kebab — Harry
rates it "20 out of 10", one of his favourite things in Lebanon.
- [10:32] The bill: 2,600,000 lira — ~$1,700 at the official rate, about $80
at the black-market rate for the whole table. Pay in lira after changing
  money at the black-market rate.
- [11:28] Walking the cobbled old streets and restaurant-lined square.
- [12:14] Hilmi's lemonade — the town's famous drink, from a shop founded in
1888; multiple flavours, hugely popular, and very refreshing.
- [14:36] Why it's his favourite: pretty, walkable, town-sized, with history,
a beach, golf-buggy rentals, nightlife, and incredible sunsets. The one
  negative: slow wi-fi.
