# $100 LUXURY Dead Sea Hotel🇯🇴

Harry and [Mac](/people/mac.md) leave the [Amman](/places/amman.md) hostel for a
night at the [Dead Sea](/places/dead-sea.md), an hour away and a long way below
sea level.

**The useful lesson is a mistake they make and name.** The shore is remote and
has no public transport, they arrived by taxi, and reaching the salt flats at the
southern end costs them another 30 dinars for two hours of one. Harry's
conclusion, delivered straight to camera, is that anyone coming here should rent
a car.

The rest is what the Dead Sea is actually like: mud that feels good going on and
stings as it dries, floating that surprises him by how much he enjoys it, salt
crystals visible in the water, and skin afterwards he compares to wearing a
wetsuit. The salt flats, which are the part that needed the extra taxi, he rates
the more beautiful half of the day.
