# Honest Filipino Street Vendor Gets A Reward 💰🇵🇭

An early morning in [Moalboal](/places/moalboal.md) on Cebu, which Harry calls
the most touristy place in the [Philippines](/countries/philippines.md) — and
still less touristy than comparable spots in Thailand. He walks the coast to a
café for a smoothie bowl, talks through which of the town's activities he
recommends and which he deliberately skipped, and meets a woman selling pearls
from a roadside table. She quotes 5,000 pesos for the entire table; Harry buys
two pieces and pays the 5,000 anyway, because her shop was wrecked in the
typhoon and she has been working through the heat all day without so much as a
door. The family tell him they'll buy a month's supply of rice. He explains
that these giveaways run on viewer donations topped up with his own money, that
none of it stays with him, and that this is the kind of video he most wants to
make.
