Country

Argentina

Harry's only Argentine stop is Ushuaia at the very bottom of it — the departure port for Antarctica, where the Falklands are a war memorial and an Englishman keeps his mouth shut.

Argentina

Harry’s Argentina material is a single day in Ushuaia, at the southern tip of the country, on his way to Antarctica. He has not travelled the rest of it on camera.

Observations

From My First Time in Antarctica (10 Day Expedition) 🇦🇶

  • Ushuaia is three hours’ flight from Buenos Aires, and Harry describes the distance and remoteness as the first real sign of what the trip is.
  • Not much English is spoken at the bottom of the country. He finds the people very kind.
  • The Falklands are Las Malvinas here, and there is a memorial in Ushuaia to the Argentine soldiers who fought the British. Harry’s response on camera is to say explicitly that he is not going to make a joke and is not going to say anything — which is, in its way, the observation.
  • Prices are high. The main shopping street is expensive; the only bargain he finds is a shop selling counterfeit outdoor gear.
